Last month, Holly Springs utility customer service reached a significant milestone – more than 5,000 Town utility customers, roughly 33%, are using WaterSmart. This web portal allows users to view and track water usage, quickly detect leaks, and learn tips to save money on water bills. It’s offered at no additional charge through the Town.
“We’ve received so much positive feedback about WaterSmart, especially about the ability for customers to receive emails or text messages alerting them to possible water leaks and high water usage,” said Jolanta Milczanowski, business analyst.
Many customers may not realize how much water they use when washing vehicles or watering grass, she noted.
“Having that feedback from WaterSmart the same or next day helps our customers realize what caused the high usage,” she said. “And, the portal allows customers to detect an issue if they continue to get a leak alert every day when water is running continuously.”
Additionally, she said, WaterSmart allows customers to better understand their water bill and compare their water usage from month to month, as well as with similar households.
