Work to create a safer and more efficient street and sidewalk network continues with the Holly Springs Road widening project. People walking and bicycling along Holly Springs Road past Holly Ridge Elementary and Middle schools should follow the safe sidewalk route as construction shifts.
Use the crosswalks at Cobblepoint Way and Linksland Drive to access the open sidewalk on the north side of Holly Springs Road. The sidewalk on the south side of the road will be closed. As work through this section progresses over the next few months, additional sidewalk routes may be reopened.
The Town is working closely with the schools as they distribute information to parents about how the construction shift will affect walkers and carpool. Drivers, please be alert with the start of the school year as families adjust to the new traffic pattern and the WCPSS announcement of a shortage of school bus drivers.
When complete, the Holly Springs Road project will consist of a four-lane, median-divided road with an expansive 8-foot-wide sidewalk from Flint Point Lane to Sunset Lake Road.
