In response to resident concerns about unlawful parking, the Holly Springs Town Council has voted to revise the Town’s parking ordinance. Effective immediately, fines for most illegal parking have increased from $5 to $25 for the first offense. Repeated violators could incur increased fines, warning stickers, and immobilization devices, such as a “boot.”
In addition to enhanced penalties, the Town is creating school no parking, standing, or stopping zones in neighborhoods around all schools in Holly Springs. This expands the recent decision to create a no parking, standing, or stopping zone in neighborhoods surrounding Holly Springs High School in response to resident concerns. This means that parents will no longer be able to use neighborhoods to circumvent carpool at all schools. These restrictions will be in effect one hour before school starts to one hour after the school day ends.
The new parking ordinance also prohibits parking within five feet of all crosswalks in Holly Springs.
“We want Holly Springs to be a safe and healthy community, and that means making sure people are not parking their cars illegally and blocking the line of sight for motorists,” said Police Chief Paul Liquorie.
