As Holly Springs continues to grow, what does the community want for the future of the downtown area?
Ideas have been compiled in the new draft plan that includes more space for retail, restaurants, and services, as well as commercial or office space, and additional residential areas. Possible future highlights include:
- Programming for Mims Park, including an amphitheater and enhanced paths
- A permanent Farmers Market/Public Market pavilion with a community kitchen and flexible civic spaces
- Conversion of Avent Ferry Road, from Ballentine to Center streets, to a festival street featuring a large tree canopy, string lights, and public gathering spaces
- On- and off-street pedestrian and bicycle connections to safely connect nearby residential areas with the downtown
The yearlong effort to update the plan drew in hundreds of residents who shared ideas at multiple public meetings and garnered online survey responses from thousands of people.
After incorporating final adjustments, the plan is anticipated to be presented to the Holly Springs Town Council for possible adoption at the Dec. 5 meeting. Click here to learn more about the project to update the downtown plan.
