Calling all seniors: Are you interested in clubs and social gatherings, outings to regional destinations, volunteer opportunities, recreational activities, a new Senior Spotlight e-newsletter, and more? Through Holly Springs Parks & Recreation, people ages 55+ now can enjoy more connectivity and activities geared specifically for them than ever before!
Last year, with growing community interest in expanded activities for seniors, Mayor Sean Mayefskie held a Community Chat, inviting seniors to share what programs interested them. Town Parks & Recreation staff also sought input during senior focus groups and through an online survey.
“The feedback we gathered through various channels and conversations was truly instrumental in shaping expanded offerings of programs and activities geared specifically for this age group,” said Holly Springs Parks & Recreation Director LeeAnn Plumer.
Holly Springs Parks & Recreation has launched a monthly e-newsletter dedicated to senior programs and activities. The Senior Spotlight includes information about regular programs and highlights unique activities offered for seniors during the upcoming month and beyond. Subscribe to the e-newsletter by visiting hollyspringsnc.gov/seniors.
The Senior Spotlight e-newsletter details the expanded offerings designed specifically for seniors, including:
- Weekly clubs, such as Wii bowling, bridge, mah-jongg, and more
- Workshops spanning topics from technology to nutrition
- Senior fitness classes and wellness activities
- Social gatherings and volunteer opportunities
- Group outings to regional destinations
The newsletter also includes information about Town festivals, events, and performances.
Plumer noted that seniors were intentionally considered during the design of the multigenerational recreation center planned for the future Eagles Landing Park.
