One month ago, Holly Springs launched a new way to travel around Town, and the community is already 'hopping' on board! In just 30 days, the Holly Springs Hopper ride-sharing service has proven to be a hometown hit, carrying nearly 700 passengers over 1,200 miles. With fares that cost less than a cup of coffee and a 4.94 / 5-star rating, it’s official: the Holly Springs Hopper is off to a strong start.
"The launch has exceeded our expectations,” said Holly Springs Town Manager Randy Harrington. “Seeing the Holly Springs Hopper earn such positive ratings and high usage so quickly shows that our residents truly value a flexible, affordable transit option."
Ritter-Garcia provided a deeper look at the Hopper’s first month with additional data:
- 489 Total rides & 679 passengers
- 1,245.9 miles traveled
- 11.89 minutes average wait time for a ride
- 9.5 minutes average ride time from pickup to drop-off
- 41.7% of trips picked up more than one passenger
Ritter-Garcia noted that, so far, Tuesday mornings are the most popular time residents request rides with Downtown Holly Springs, Walmart, and the Hunt Recreation Center being the most popular destinations.
“We are thrilled that residents are enjoying the Hopper,” said Holly Springs Transportation Planner Christopher Ritter-Garcia. “The service is about more than just getting from point A to point B; it’s about connecting our community in a way that’s sustainable, affordable, and easy to use.”
Hopper service hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Rides can be booked in just a few taps through the Ride Freebee App or by calling (855) 918-3733. Fares are $2 for trips in Town limits; riders age 62+ and those with disabilities ride for free.
Town staff are engaging residents at senior facilities and other community locations to share more about this service and how to access it. Visit the Hopper webpage to learn more information about the Hopper and FAQs.
