Parks & Recreation Bond (November 2011)

Following voters' approval of the $20 million Parks & Recreation bond in 2011, numerous projects have been completed, expanding parkland and enhancing recreation amenities throughout Holly Springs.

Bass Lake Pedestrian Bridge

Carl Dean Greenway

  • This paved greenway connects Womble and Bass Lake parks.
  • Connections to nearby neighborhoods and Main Street Square link to the greenway.

Jones Park Playground and Disc Golf

  • Project included adding two playground structures, a shaded seating area, and a disc golf course with a practice basket on a turf putting green.

Middle Creek Greenway

  • Nearly 3-mile paved greenway spans from Sunset Lake Road to Holly Springs Road, generally following the path of Middle Creek.
  • Connects the Arbor Creek, Bridgewater, Woodcreek and Sunset Ridge North neighborhoods.
  • The greenway also will provide a regional connection via the Town of Apex's Middle Creek Greenway.

Parkland Purchase on Cass Holt Road & Master Planning

This 56-acre future park is located on Cass Holt Road directly across from Holly Springs High School. Bond funding was used to purchase the land, develop the master plan, and support the first phase of the design. More information about the project.

Sugg Farm Purchase and Concept Plan

  • Purchase of 117 acres of parkland in the heart of Holly Springs.
  • The former farm and pasture lands are used for town festivals and more.

North Main Athletic Complex Park Multipurpose Field & Tennis Courts

  • Constructed 185,000 square foot synthetic turf multipurpose field, eight regulation and four youth tennis courts, all with sports lighting for extended play. (The stadium and stadium field at North Main Athletic Complex were not funded by Parks & Recreation bonds.)

Womble Park Improvements

  • Improvements included 210,000 square feet of synthetic turf fields with athletic lighting, a park loop trail, one regulation and two youth tennis courts, expanded parking areas, playground improvements, and the addition of a concession, shelter and restroom facility.
