Yard Waste Cart FAQs
Fill your cart with lawn clippings, leaves, and other types of yard waste, and place the cart safely at the curb on the same day as recycling collection every other week.
The biweekly cart collection continues throughout the year. During leaf season (November through February), leaves that don’t fit in carts can be placed at the edge of your front yard for collection. Town leaf vacuum trucks will collect leaves left behind the curb during this season on a zone schedule, and biweekly collection of yard waste from carts also continues during this time.
Residents can also take yard waste to the convenience center at no additional charge. Or, residents can arrange for an excessive yard waste collection for a fee.
Benefits of Yard Waste Carts
The benefits of using carts for yard waste collection include:
- More efficient collection.
- Safer roadways.
- Cleaner waterways for healthier habitats for wildlife. Cart collection keeps debris out of storm drains that empty into local creeks, streams, and waterways.
- Prevents flooding that can occur when yard waste clogs stormwater drains.
- Less pollen and dust in the spring. The fine particles can’t be contained in vacuum trucks.
Collection of yard waste from carts will follow the same schedule as your recycling, which is picked up every other week. Click here to look up your schedule.
Example: Tuesday is my collection day. One Tuesday is garbage, recycling, and yard waste; the next Tuesday is garbage collection only.
Brown Yard Waste Carts
The brown yard waste carts are branded with the Holly Springs logo, and the brown lids are labeled for yard waste collection. Place grass, leaves, pine needles, twigs, sticks, branches, and other yard waste items in these bins.
