Business Park Pump Station & Force Main Improvements
Last Content Update:
The Town of Holly Springs is upgrading the pump station located at 151 Rough Leaf Lane to serve the area’s drainage basin. This pump station helps transfer wastewater to the Town’s treatment plant. A larger wastewater line (force main) is being installed in existing utility easements through undeveloped land. The pump station site boundaries will remain the same.
Status
- Construction is anticipated to begin in September or October 2025 and be completed in late 2026.
- Construction hours will be limited to 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The pump station site currently has two underground storage tanks (wetwells); however, only one of the wetwells is currently being used. Two pumps will be installed in the second wetwell, and electrical and mechanical upgrades will be installed to support operation of the pump station.
The pump station also currently connects with an existing pressurized pipe (force main) that carries the wastewater from the pump station to the wastewater treatment plant. The upgrades will install a second, parallel force main to accommodate the increased wastewater flow.

Residents near the pump station can expect to hear construction-related noise during construction hours, and the Town’s contractor will minimize noise as much as possible. Construction-related equipment and construction vehicles will also be at the pump station throughout the duration of the project. The contractor’s vehicles will access the pump station site via Rough Leaf Lane through the Trinity Creek subdivision.
No; the size of the pump station site will not increase. This upgrade was anticipated with the pump station’s 2009 construction, and the area needed for the upgrade was included in the original design.
When it was first designed in 2009, the pump station was designed to capture flow from the natural drainage area and beyond. The upgrades will accommodate the build-out of the 2.5-square-mile Business Park sewer basin, which includes residential, commercial, and industrial development.
Not necessarily. Once construction is complete, the additional pumps will be kept underwater and underground. Therefore, the noise from additional infrastructure will be minimal. The Town will assess noise levels after construction is complete and will take efforts to evaluate and address noise levels as needed.
No. The upgrades will install new odor control equipment at the pump station. The equipment is designed specifically to treat potential odors from wastewater pump stations.
The Business Park Pump Station was constructed in 2009 to serve the Holly Springs Business Park and surrounding residential neighborhoods. It was designed to allow for future expansion. The pump station upgrades and associated new force main are now needed.
