Starting life as a Town of one square mile and a population of 218, Holly Springs has grown to 19.88 square miles and about 47,321 residents.
In 2006 the pharmaceutical company Novartis (now CSL Seqirus) announced that it would build a new vaccine manufacturing facility in Holly Springs, opening a new era in Holly Springs that led to the arrival of FUJIFILM Biotechnologies and Amgen, among others.
A new Law Enforcement Center on Holly Springs Road opened in 2016 under Mayor Dick Sears, and both the Holly Springs Police Department and the 911 operators are housed in the facility.
In November 2021 UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital opened its doors, welcoming its first birth on Nov. 6. With the opening of the hospital, more medical offices opened in town, allowing residents to remain in Holly Springs for specialized care, rather than having to travel to Raleigh or Cary.
Through all the growth and change, Holly Springs strives to retain its friendly, small-town feel.
