The Citizen Police Academy is an extended, interactive program for Town residents to learn more about the Police Department’s organization and policies, as well as the constitutional and state laws that guide police operations and practices. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in discussions.
While most sessions are classroom-based with some demonstrations, the academy culminates with a full day of scenario-based training that allows participants to apply what they have learned throughout the program and “walk in the shoes” of a police officer for the day.
Applicants must be able to commit to attend the free nine-week program that will meet at the Holly Springs Law Enforcement Center and must be Town residents. Select applicants will be screened, including a basic background check, before being accepted into the program.
