Holly Springs residents soon will have access to a WaterSmart portal that will let them monitor water usage from their phone or computer. This is the final step in the town’s commitment to incorporating smart technology into the utility system.
Starting in 2015 the town began the process of converting from manually read water meters once per month to an automated meter which tracks water usage every hour, or 720 times per month. With the WaterSmart portal, more information about water usage will be at the fingertips of customers.
The WaterSmart portal will also allow residents to communicate directly with Holly Springs utility billing staff if they see water usage is rising but they can’t find a direct cause, instead of waiting until they get a bill to discover a problem.
